These Nerdy Couples Costumes are great for Halloween or Comic-Con!

It’s the season to get dressed up, and we’re pretty tired of having to choose between Popeye and Olive Oyl or Fred and Wilma when it comes to couples costumes. That’s pretty ancient. It’s about time we brought out something new and fun. Sure the classics are classic for a reason, but it’s time to spice up our costume parties. So we’ve been digging around the Gemr basement, and we’ve found 10 couples costumes that will be big hits at every party you roll into!

Bigfoot and a Photographer

This one is just silly fun. If you like cryptids, and you like fun games this costume pair will liven up any party. The person dressed as Bigfoot has to escape getting photographed, and attempt to make all photos blurry. While the photographer spends the evening trying to get a clear picture of their other half. It makes for a hilarious time and a good game. You could even have prizes for the winner! This mythical pairing will inspire laughs and be considered very unique at parties!

Batman and Catwoman

Sure their wedding may not have gone off without a hitch, and sure Selena might have called it off to keep the city safe, but this tragic romance is one for the ages. This costumed duo offers excellent opportunities for both fun and fondness. The playful banter will be delightful, and the hijinks could be epic. It’s a romance for the ages and one that could bring happiness to Batman once and for all — so long as Catwoman sticks around!

Han Solo and Leia

“This is a classic idea,” you’re probably saying. To that, we say, “We know.” But don’t let that stop you. Nothing says love like a princess and her scruffy looking nerf-herder. They may have started off at each other’s throats (and with Leia kissing her brother), but they ended up as a romance that spans a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars costumes are always in style, and if anyone tries to tell you otherwise — tell them it will upset your Wookie.

Jack and Sally

Will they ever end up together? Seems like it! These two Nightmare Before Christmas lovers are a great costume idea. Their romance is sweet, even if Jack spends half the movie oblivious. The pinstripe suit and ragdoll dress is a cute look, and we already found you a great Sally makeup tutorial from Alexa Poletti! Now all you have to do is head to the Town of Halloween for the party of the year! Just don’t let your Jack move on to Christmas until the night is over!

Tormund and Brienne of Tarth

Star-crossed lovers make the best costumes. Everyone wants to see these Game of Thrones characters together, and honestly, ladies, if your man doesn’t look at you like Tormund looks at Brienne, you might need to have a talk. If you aren’t up to growing a glorious bushy beard, store bought is fine. Not everyone can get that epic Wildling look in a couple of weeks. As for Brienne, remember that there are looks which don’t involve full plate mail (it’s sweltering and hard to sit in for long periods of time), but it does look badass. Be the couple everyone is jealous of and wants to see together.

Morticia and Gomez

You’d be hard pressed to find a more loving or macabre relationship than that of Gomez and Morticia Addams! They support each other fully in all of their wild actions. Gomez practically worships Morticia, and she gladly follows him to hell and back. While their lifestyle might be spooky, mysterious, and ooky, their love sure isn’t. You’re sure to turn heads (hopefully all the way around) with this couples costume!

Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler

What’s cooler than running around with dinosaurs in Jurassic Park? The added bonus is that these cosplays are pretty easy to put together. For the most part, you just need to get the right colored shirt and a hat. Maybe a wig if you’re really going for the look. If you’ve got a friend looking for something to do, you get a big bonus if you convince them to get one of those inflatable T-rex costumes and to chase you around all night. Quick and easy? Check. Still hella cool? Check.

Star Lord and Gamora

You don’t have to have an unspoken thing between you to dress up as this pair of Marvel heroes. It might not be a snap to put it all together, and you might need to put your soul into it. But with some work, this costume pair would be epic. Just kick on a rocking eighties soundtrack and dance your way into every party in town. The hardest part is painting yourself Gamora green, but hey, that’s really fun too!

The Dread Pirate Roberts and Princess Buttercup

Looking for something a bit more classic? As you wish! The Princess Bride is still great thirty years later. Sure you will have to look out for ROUSes (if you believe in that nonsense) and perhaps a six-fingered man. But there will always be true love between you. Bonus points if you get a friend to be Inigo Montoya (you killed my father, prepare to die).

Michonne and a Zombie

Okay, so the undead don’t precisely scream “couple” — But Michonne is a heartthrob and a BAMF. Her waltzing into The Walking Dead with her zombie pets is exactly what any party needs. Only, leave the “pet” part behind. We aren’t condoning relationships with walkers (that’s an excellent way to end up a walker yourself and really, really, really gross), but we are condoning awesome costumes! Get yourself some body paint and some scar liquid. Here’s a great zombie makeup tutorial by Shonagh Scott to help you get the look just right! Don’t stop there. Make sure you look exceptional with some roughed up clothes and some fake blood. We would talk more about Michonne, but you can’t improve perfection.
