Along with spells, charms, and enchantments, love is in the air in the Potterverse! We thought we’d celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday with some warm fuzzies and highlight our fave couples from Harry Potter. Here are, hand selected by us, five couples that we simply love to love. Other than Harry and Ginny, of course. They’re a given.

Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley

Hermione and Ron are one of our favorite couples from the Potterverse! Seriously, how cute were they from the very beginning with Wingardium Leviosa?! Their relationship started with a deep and solid friendship before evolving into something more romantic, and that’s something we can get behind! They’ve always bickered like an old married couple, anyway. Harry’s BFFs together just makes perfect sense to us!

Why Hermione Granger is one of the Best Characters in Harry Potter

Lily and James Potter

It all started with the OG power couple, Lily and James. Without these two there never would have been a wee baby Harry to foil Voldemort’s plans. Their time together was too brief as Lily and James were tragically murdered by the Dark Lord. Although their time with their son was cut short, their love stayed with Harry for the rest of his life. He is protected by his mother’s love, and his Patronus takes on the same form as his father’s animagus. Lily and James: a couple whose love was so strong it lived on through their only child and gave him unmeasurable protection.

The 10 Biggest Things the Harry Potter Movies left out

Molly and Arthur Weasley

In many ways, Molly and Arthur Weasley are the antitheses of the Dursleys. They’re a boisterous, loving couple who are easy natured and run a somewhat chaotic house. Together they raised seven ginger headed kids who all went on to do great things in their own right. Molly was a motherly figure to Harry, the opposite of cold Aunt Petunia, and Mr. Weasley is supportive and kind whereas Mr. Dursley was hot-tempered and harsh. Can the Weasley’s add us to their brood…please?

(Nymphadora) Tonks and Remus Lupin

Tonks and Remus break our hearts. Their romance was even briefer than Lily and James Potter’s, but it will go down in Potterverse history as legendary. Lupin thought that no one would ever love him because of his werewolf status but Tonks fell head over heels in love anyways. Together they defied prejudice and married. They even went on to have a baby while the Second Wizarding War was raging — and Tonks had her baby and went right back to fighting. Tonks and Lupin should have been a sweet family with a happily ever after but instead, they both perished in the Battle of Hogwarts leaving behind their infant son. At least he has Harry Potter as a godfather to watch over him. Hand us a handkerchief, we’ve got something in our eye!

The Rise of Hufflepuff House

Fleur Delacour and Bill Weasley

Sure, Fleur got on everyone’s nerves with her critical nature, but the breathtakingly beautiful witch captured Bill Weasley’s heart. Perhaps he fell for her because she is part Veela after all, but in the end, she proved her love and loyalty for the eldest of the Weasley children. Fleur is quite the catch, but Bill was also insanely cool in his own right and a kick butt curse-breaker. Mrs. Weasley was positive Fleur would abandon Bill after he was horrifically scarred from an attack by the werewolf Fenrir Greyback. The young couple proved everyone wrong and stayed together for the long haul, and went on to have three children.
