Rival auction houses in London have been thinking on their toes recently, as they should be when their competitors are constantly seeking new initiatives to add to their core competencies. Southeby’s is reportedly going into partnership with eBay, one of (if not the largest) online auction hosts in the world. And Christie’s is planning on opening a new auction house in Shanghai in October. These companies are making big moves, and for all the right reasons.
Edward Dolman, the recently new chairman and chief executive of Phillips, will preside over the opening of the company’s new 30,000 sq. foot headquarters in London. On top of this, a few blocks down is Bonhams, which will be offering a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, the most valuable automobile in the world.
So, which auction house catches your eye? They’re fighting for you!
