New Works From First Wave of Cuban-Exile Artists at Fort Lauderdale’s Museum of Art

Miami based artists are coming together for Nova Southeastern University’s Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale’s opening of ‘The Miami Generation: Revisited’.

It all started back in 1983 when “nine Cuban exile artists came together and exhibited their works in a show called ‘The Miami Generation'”.  That’s all it took and now people are still hooked 30 years later.

Besides the bond created by ‘The Miami Generation’, all nine artists share a common ground having each immigrated to Miami from Cuba in the ’60’s.  Three of the famed artists have since passed away, leaving us six to grace the world of Cuban-American art.  The show premiered on July 12th featured a discussion with the six living artists about Miami’s impact on their work and what it means to them to be Cuban-American.

The show continues at the NSU Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale, FL until September 21.
