Philadelphia Museum Losing Its Maurice Sendak Collection

The Rosenbach Museum and Library will send thousands of Sendak items to Connecticut, where a Sendak museum is planned.

The Rosenbach Museum in Philadelphia has housed an impressive collection of illustrations and manuscripts from renowned author Maurice Sendak since the late 1960’s when the author, himself, placed them there.  Unfortunately for the museum, this is all about to change.  The materials have since become the property of the Maurice Sendak foundation after Sendak’s passing in 2012.  Arrangements have been made for the materials to be moved to the author’s hometown of Ridgefield, Connecticut.

The Rosenbach Museum’s Sendak exhibition will remain on display until Nov. 2nd when it makes it’s big move.
