The 10 Most Iconic Harry Potter Collectibles

For many of us, Harry Potter wasn’t just a part of our childhood. Rather, Harry Potter was our childhood.

The first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, was originally released in 1997. Series finale Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows would debut in 2007, and its corresponding movie series would conclude in 2011. That’s 14 years of Harry Potter for those who followed the franchise. Put into perspective, someone who read the first book when they were 8 years old would be 22 when the final movie came out. To this day, the Harry Potter fanbase is unparalleled in its devotion, and the story of Hogwarts remains an unforgettable staple of modern pop culture. If people aren’t still talking about the adventures of Harry Potter another 10 years from now, we’d be surprised.

In honor of the legacy that author J.K.Rowling has left us, we’ve gathered 10 of the most iconic collectibles to ever be created in honor of the series.

HP10Harry Potter: Page to Screen: The Complete Filmmaking Journey

If there’s one trend that’s constant among Harry Potter memorabilia, it’s that merchandise can get extraordinarily expensive.

Case in point: this lovingly created collector’s edition of Harry Potter: Page to Screen: The Complete Filmmaking Journey is an exhaustive look into the creative process behind the Harry Potter films, and it even includes a prop replica of The Monster Book of Monsters. The catch? This set debuted with a retail price of $1000. While the price has since dropped on this expensive collectible, it goes to show that being a ‘Potter fan ain’t cheap.

HP9Hogwarts Crest Bedding Set

We’re not ones to say bedding is exactly collectible, but Hogwarts inspired sheets have been too popular throughout the years to not be included on the list.

Those looking to add some wizardry to their beds can still pick up these sets today.

HP8Harry Potter Wizard’s Collection

As far as DVD/Blu-ray boxsets go, the Harry Potter Wizard’s Collection is hard to beat.

Boasting hours of exclusive special features, a cloth map, and other secrets hidden inside the box, the Wizard’s Collection is a fan’s dream come true. That said, this $600 collection is no longer available at many stores, so hunting down a complete set may not be so easy.

HP7Replica Wand (Any of them)

A good way to split the Harry Potter fanbase asunder is to make bold claims over who the best character is. Even Harry himself not safe from fan arguments.

Fortunately, the wands of many Harry Potter characters have been faithfully replicated over the years, so no fan should feel slighted over their favorite hero (or villian!) being left out.

HP6Lego Hogwarts

When a series receives its own dedicated Lego set, it’s a good sign that the franchise has cemented its place in pop culture. Harry Potter is no exception.

This box set has since ceased production, so complete sets currently sell for hundreds of dollars on Ebay.

HP5Harry Potter Funko Pop!

Funko Pop may represent a larger amount of TV shows and movies than Lego does, but that doesn’t make the Harry Potter Funko Pop any less significant.

In fact, unlike many of the other items on this list, any Harry Potter Funko Pop can still be found for approximately $10 apiece. At least some collectibles can be had without breaking the bank.

HP4Solemnly Swear | Mischief Managed Mug

This may not be as sophisticated as the more extravagant items on this list, but this one earns bonus points for its cool concept.

As a semi-recreation of the Marauder’s Map, the mug’s white “I solemnly swear…” text changes to a black “Mischief Managed” message when hot water is added. It may be a simple trick by Muggle standards, but it has enough of a magical flair to make any Harry Potter fan smile.

HP3Time-Turner Necklace

As one of the more distinctive necklaces in the series, Hermione’s Time-Turner Necklace is arguably the most recreated prop from the Harry Potter universe.

Although we don’t recommend using one to sneak in extra classes amid a heavy course load, Time-Turners can make a cost effective gift or an extravagant present depending on where you buy one. In truth, we wouldn’t be surprised if someone had a dedicated collection of Time-Turners.

HP2House Scarves

Though we all know Harry Potter belongs to House Gryffindor, one of the most popular pastimes among Harry Potter fans is deciding which of the four houses of Hogwarts they would belong to.

It makes sense, then, that scarves featuring the symbol of each House would be so prominent to this day. Whether it turns out you’re more of a Hufflepuff or a Ravenclaw, it’s never been easier to show your pride for your hypothetical student community.

HP1Severus Snape Sixth Scale Figure

While many could debate what the top spot on a list like this should be, we have to be real for a second. On January 14th, 2016, Alan Rickman died after a long battle with cancer at the age of 69. While he boasts an impressive history both in film and on stage, Harry Potter fans best know him for his unforgettable role as Severus Snape across all eight of the Harry Potter movies.

Though J.K.Rowling meticulously wrote the potion master as a key player in the book series, it was Alan Rickman who brought the character to life for the film-going audience. His brooding presence and his resonate deep voice defined every scene he appeared in, and he conveyed the evolution of Snape’s character with an air of mystery that defined his deep complexity. Even spin-offs and spoofs of the Harry Potter series would reference Alan Rickman’s portrayal of Snape, even if there was no particular reason to. Alan Rickman used his gift for acting to leave a legacy that Harry Potter fans will never forget, and we can only offer our condolences to his friends and family for the loss of such a legendary performer.

Rest in peace, Alan Rickman. Though you may be gone from this world, the magic you left in our hearts and minds will keep you alive forever.
