You’ve Got a Friend in any of these Disney Sidekicks

Disney has the best heroes — but no hero would be a star without a dependable, trusty and loyal sidekick! It also helps if that sidekick has a great sense of humor. We’ve combed the archives to find Disney’s top ten sidekicks. If we’re being honest, we easily could have written a top 20 list and STILL left out some of our favorites, but we had to draw the line somewhere. Let us know if we highlighted your favorite sidekick in Gemr’s Disney Club! In no particular order, we present you with our list of 10 Best Disney Sidekicks.

Pluto

Woof! Pluto often sneaks in under the radar, but we can’t forget the reliable dog who’s always up for an adventure with Mickey and the gang! With his orange-ish fur and trademark black ears, he’s one of the Sensational Six (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto). He is also the only one in the Sensational Six who hasn’t been humanized. He’s just Mickey’s pet– and we think that makes him extra special. Dog and Mouse, together forever!

Olaf

He’s Olaf and he likes warm hugs! Some people are worth melting for — and some sidekicks are worth swooning over! We just can’t get enough of this lovable and HILARIOUS little buddy. Heck, we’d move to Arendale if it meant we’d get serenaded every day by our favorite snowman. Move over Sven, you’ve got some competition as Olaf’s BFF!

Genie

You ain’t never, and we mean never, had a friend like this big guy! True, Genie had to grant Aladdin’s three wishes, but Genie gave Aladdin a lot of great advice for free, too! Aladdin would never have gotten the girl if Genie hadn’t given him the boost of confidence he so desperately needed. Without Genie’s hilarious insight and advice, Aladdin would still be a diamond in the rough. Now that’s a sidekick!

Baloo

Baloo isn’t just a laid-back bear, he’s Mowgli’s bestie and fiercest protector. He cares for the man-cub and keeps him safe from the dreaded Shere Khan, that dastardly tiger. We could learn a thing or two from Mowgli’s pal and look for “the simple bare necessities, forget about your worries and your strife.” Now that’s a quality we can appreciate in a sidekick!

The Seven Dwarfs

Who needs one sidekick when you can have seven affable fellows! Well, they’re not all in a good mood — one is definitely Grumpy, one’s a little Bashful, and one might be a bit Dopey. But then you have Happy, Sneezy, Sleepy and last, but certainly not least, Doc. The Seven Dwarfs supported our girl Snow White through rough times with the evil Queen and made her feel right at home in their tiny cottage, even reviving her a few times. What are friends for, after all?

Tinkerbell

She may be a wee little lady but she packs a big dose of friendship! She was a friend to Peter Pan and the Lost Boys and now she’s beloved by millions. Sure, she might have a bit of an attitude, but when you’re dealing with a gang of unruly boys you kind of need one! This fairy spreads friendship and pixie dust wherever she flies — what more could you ask for in a sidekick? Tinkerbell made such a big impression, she even became the unofficial mascot of Disney!

Mushu

Sometimes we just need a good hearty laugh, and Mushu is the perfect sidekick to provide much needed comic relief! What? You don’t agree? Dishonor on you, dishonor on family, dishonor on your cow! Sorry, we got a little carried away there. Mushu believed in Mulan when no one else did — sure, he did it for some selfish reasons at the start– but in the end, he was the best friend she could ask for. He stands by her through thick and thin and that’s what a good sidekick does.

Jiminy Cricket

We don’t need the Blue Fairy to appoint Jiminy Cricket as our conscience. We’ll take the little guy as our companion any day! He’s wise AND adventurous. Sounds like the perfect wingman to us. Jiminy was Pinocchio’s official conscience, but he’s our official pal. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s a snappy little dresser, too!

Dory

Sometimes a sidekick is so outstanding, they can carry a whole story by themselves. Case in point: Dory from Finding Nemo got her own movie! She may have short-term memory problems, but we hardly even notice. Dory is sweet, generous, and willing to stick with her friends through thick and thin. Heck, she’ll travel the entire ocean to help a friend in need!

Piglet

Sweet, timid Piglet! He’s Pooh Bear’s best friend and confidant. Together they enjoy long walks in the Hundred Acre Wood and waxing philosophical about friendship. Piglet may need occasional encouragement, but he’s got a big heart! We’ll just leave you here with the famous quote from Winnie The Pooh about his adventures with Piglet: “We didn’t realize we were making memories. We just knew we were having fun.”
